Your bedroom is not only a place to sleep but also a place to make and create love between you and your partner. You can create a private retreat away from the rest of the world in your own bedroom. By creating an exotic bedroom you can enhance the love that is made and shared in that room. Most couples go away to exotic island resorts to help recapture the love they had once shared. But you don't have to go away to do this. Instead you can do it right at home in your own bedroom.

For the bed look for one with a West Indies style. Find one that has carving in the wood of the bed. A four-poster canopy bed is also a great choice. This will add an exotic look. Add a bedspread or comforter that has an ethnic print to it. This does not have to be animal print; it can be one with a rattan or batik pattern.

For a canopy bed do not go with a little girl's style bed, instead go with a canopy bed that is done in sheer fabric. With the sheer curtains enclosing the bed. Similar to the ones seen in old 17th century style movies where the whole bed was wrapped in the sheer meshing. This will help add an exotic look to the bed.

Throw pillows on the bed that are in ethnic print are also a great choice for that exotic feeling in the bedroom. They can be placed on the bed or on other bedroom furniture.

Try adding a wicker bench at the foot of the bed. Have the cushions in another ethnic style print than what was used on the bed. The throw pillows can also be placed on the bench. The bench can serve as a place for one to sit to take off their shoes.

For your dressers and chest of draws go with an Asian style of wood. These will go well with the rest of the room. Place candles on top of both of them that can be lit to give a romantic glow to the room at night. Arrange the candles on the dresser in groups of four to five in three places on the dresser. Place a group of candles on one end, a group of candles in the center and a group at the other end of the dresser. For the chest of drawers place one group of four or five candle in the center only.

For the walls try adding some exotic prints to your walls. To add lighting use Moroccan-style brass lanterns on the walls to add some soft exotic lighting to your bedroom.
