Tips on Remodeling a Kids Room

There are many joys and challenges in remodeling a child's room. Most of us want it to be fun, functional and safe, but do not want to be stuck remodeling every three years as our child grows and has changing taste. The main thing is to pick a theme and the color palate associated with
it. I recently had my first baby, so my husband and I went though the process of making the oh so important nursery to welcome our baby into his new home. What color do we pick and what theme do we pick were the top questions on our list. We were shopping at Ikea for a few home items and we had a eureka moment. We found the cutest curtains and matching infant duvet. It was bright, bold and unisex as my husband did not if it was a boy or girl but I did. That set was our inspiration piece. You need to find your inspiration piece - maybe it is your child's favorite sport or cartoon.

Once you have the theme and color down, it is time to find wall color. Home Depot has a great tool that we used to exactly match a color. You just have to bring the fabric and follow the instructions and ta da, you have instantly matching wall color. I suggest doing one accent wall and the other three walls a neutral color. The reason is when you child grows out of this room, you are only painting one wall rather then all four. If you really want your child involved you can have him or her paint on the wall and create his or her own murals. If you children are smaller, a great way to display their artwork is by framing it and hanging on the wall. This will really boost their confidence and I am sure they will love to admire their masterpiece any chance they get.
