Jimi Hendrix Name Used Commercially Has People Peeved

The man some think to be the greatest guitarist of all time will be once again used for corporate profits. A new energy drink to be called "Liquid Experience" dubbed so in reference to Jimi Hendrix'
smash breakthrough album, "Are You Experienced", has people buzzing.

More than one Hendrix fan is a little put off by this form of use of the rock icon of Purple Haze fame. Jimi Hendrix music lives on but the world lost the once US Army Paratrooper to a drug overdose in

 1970.

In keeping with precedents set by other products produced that have sported his name, from baby clothes to lava lamps, a portion of the proceeds from this exploit will also be handed over to charities.

The Seattle, Washington firm that handles licensing and development of the Hendrix name says that among others, the United Negro College Fund is a recipient of charitable dollars generated by the use of Jimi
Hendrix' name and fame.

Chief executive officer, Josh Glass of Beverage Concepts who will be marketing the new energy drink "Liquid Experience" says that a portion of the proceeds from the use of Hendrix' name will be donated to an unnamed charity.

One can only wonder if this would fall into Jimi's definition of an "experience" at all, and would he sell a piece of himself for it. I wonder if it is purple...

I for one, wish them much success. I sure could of used the help myself many years ago.

some folks are so quick to judge...it's human nature for sure, but doesn't make it any less wrong to do so. the facts are very clear about The Liquid Experience Group and what they're attempting to do with and for the music industry. with parnters aligned like MusiCares/Grammy Foundation, they're committed to protecting the rights and legacy of all artists within the industry...through endowment funds, educational programs, rehab centers and retirement homes, and more...all through the proceeds of the sale of the energy drink. this is not about slapping some celebrity on a can and callously capitalizing on that legacy but instead, utilizing a namesake responsibly, to promote awareness...awareness that it is way overdue and to give back to the music artist and music community...making sure that whatever come of their careers, a place of peace will be theirs in the end...if they want it. if someone can come up with another way to create a potential cash cow to pay for the things mentione

Josh Glass, Beverage Concepts CEO has a questionable past, including a few run-ins with the law. Check out the link below to the NY Attorney General's website. He was part of the largest franchise scam in New York State's history. http://www.oag.state.ny.us/press/2000/jul/jul02a_00.html

Ah, back to your old writing style. Much better. So much easier to read, and your own voice is clear again. I have a question: Is Jimi Hendrix' image or music used in the ad campaign for this drink? If it's simply called "Liquid Experience", I don't see how that exploits Hendrix. Let me know, will you? Thanks for the article.
