A guilty pleasure of mine is to see an animated movie and love it as if I were a child. Monsters Inc. and the Shrek movies are good examples of this. Another example is the movie Robots, which features the voices of Ewan McGregor and Robin Williams. Animated movies have become extremely clever over the years, so much so that children get to see an entertaining animated flick while adults are entertained on a different level with humor younger ones will not understand.

Robots is a story of a young boy who dreams of being an inventor. He travels to the big city to meet his idol, Big Weld. Whenever he shows up in the city though he finds that Big Weld Industries has been involved in a hostile takeover and Big Weld is no where to be found. The exuberant boy still yearns to set things right though and, in typical movie fashion, sentimental speeches and heroic movements bring the boy and his hero together in the climax.

The first time I watched Robots I thought it was very well put together. Not only do children end up laughing and having a good time, but the parental figure who brought the child has a blast as well. Since I was laughing so hard I missed key elements, I went back to see Robots for a second time. This time I noticed small details and enjoyed the movie even more. The sound went out during two parts of the screening though, so I still missed elements of the movie.

Robots is entertaining for the whole family and a great movie to play "Spot the childhood memory" with. The game "Operation" makes an appearance as well as scenes that look like they belong in the Jetsons. Small comedic elements show up like a robotic toilet walks out of a scene with toilet paper stuck to its foot. Details such as these make Robots and entertaining film that stands out among other animated movies in its field.

This review of the movie Robots was very helpful, vis-a-vis the link I followed and the URL, in learning how to effectively flatten a cardboard box. MacGregor is great when he describes how to fold the box correctly and Robin Williams is, as always, delightful as he teaches how to tie it up with twine. I'd add some more but the men in white coats are yet again taking me away from the comput
