Stay at Home Mom: Recognition
The day does not consist of being a couch potato and watching television all day. We have to tend to the children: wake them, dress them (if they are too little to dress themselves), bathe them, feed them, play with them, teach them, ect.... We also have to make sure the house is kept in a liveable condition. Errands have to be done and food has to be prepared and brought to the table. There is so much more that we have to do and to me it seems like there is never enough hours in the day to accomplish everything.
I love being a stay at home mom. It lets me know that my child is being taken care of how I want him to be. It makes me feel good to know that I'm getting to be with him and see all the new milestones he goes through. It is tough sometimes because I often wonder how things would be if I had an outside job. I would be able to bring in more money but I wouldn't be with my child as much as I'd like to be. I think I'm doing the right thing by staying home with him during these early years.
Being a stay at home mom is not for everyone. Some mom's would rather have an outside job and I admire them for that. So if you are wondering if you are cut out to be a stay at home mom then you really need to think about it. Weigh the pro's and con's and make a good decision.
So to all the stay at home moms (and dads)--I say thank you for all you do for your families. I know that you don't always get the recognition you deserve. (We appreciate you working moms too cause that's hard work also.)
