Don't be afraid to browse. The day after Thanksgiving is a "Black Friday" in its own right. Many stores will be slashing their prices to get rid of excess stock and holiday items. Make sure you price compare. Sites such as overstock.com and amazon.com are great places to start, but even the department stores will have great on-line deals. There are also great comparison sites that you can use bizrate.com and pricescan.com.
Remember shipping/handling costs. While some on-line stores will have specials on shipping and handling, remember, especially if you are using a gift card, that there are shipping and handling costs that may require a little extra money.
Use coupons and discount codes. Websites such as coupons.com and Coupon Mountain offer coupons that can prove to be valuable.
Shop safely. Remember to make sure that the website you are using protects your identity. Only shop sites that have Verisign or other significant protections. To go one step further, find out if the store you are browsing is backed by the BBB (Better Business Bureau). Make sure you have a phone number you can contact for the store's on-line department in case you do not receive items or have extra charges that you were not expecting.
