This simple Mother's Day tablecloth is a fun project for the kids to make as a gift for Mom all by themselves. They can spend hours making it and then enjoy their hard work when they give their homemade gift to Mom for Mother's Day.

To Make This Fabric Mother's Day Tablecloth You Will Need:

Unprimed Canvas or Fabric Tablecloth

Brown Fabric paint

Red, black, white and green fabric paint

Paint Brushes (Small artist brushes)

Plastic or foam paints

Sponges (the flat kind with no scrubby side)

Scissors

The first step is to have the kids decide how big they want the Mother's Day tablecloth to be. Once you do this you will know what size canvas table cloth you will need.

Next, decide what the pattern should be. I recommend using all the words that mean Mom to you. Words like "Love," "Caring," "Graceful," and "Mother" are all great choices. You can also slip in some names of family members, Mom's favorite flowers, and any other words that would completely personalize this hand made gift form the kids.

Go ahead and cut out letter shaped stamps from your sponges. The kids can draw each letter on one sponge with a black magic marker. Next cut it out with some scissors.

You could also use rubber stamp letters. Stencils would also work as well.

Squirt some of your other colored fabric paints out on plastic or foam paint. The kids can dip their sponge Mother's Day shapes into the paints lightly.

Now, have the kids choose a spot on the table clothe to stamp their Mother's Day words for Mom. They need to press their stamps onto the tablecloth and hold it there with some force for a couple of seconds. Make sure they are working on a stable and flat work surface.

Repeats this Mother's Day word stamping process randomly over the entire table cloth surface.

Once you have stamped enough Mother's Day word prints have the kids wash their hands off.

Now, once all of the paint has dried you can use some more of your fabric paints and paint brushes to add the little details to really make this Mother's Day table cloth pop.
