It is very stressful and frightening when, as a young woman, you are faced with the question of whether or not you might be pregnant. If you are asking yourself this question, the first thing you should do is take a deep breath and try to relax. Know that you are not alone. There are a lot of people and organizations who help thousands of young girls who are faced with unwanted pregnancies every year. This is not the end of the world. Everything will be okay.

How can I tell if I might be pregnant?

Before you allow yourself to become worried, you should determine whether you have true cause to be concerned. Obviously, you don't need to be concerned if you have not been sexually active. If you have been sexually active, ask yourself if you have any of the following signs of pregnancy:

· Did you miss your period?

You can not be pregnant if you are still having your period. However, you may still experience some light bleeding that you might mistake for your period.

· Are your breasts sore or enlarged?

· Are you more tired than usual?

· Are you moody?

· Have you been experiencing nausea and/or vomiting?

· Are you experiencing increased urination?

If you have some or most of the above signs, you should take a home pregnancy test or seek help form a medical professional who will be able to administer a pregnancy test. This can be done at a health clinic or in a doctor's office. However, most people elect to take a home pregnancy test first. It is private and easy.

How do I take a home pregnancy test?

Home pregnancy tests can be bought at any drug store and at most grocery stores. They are offered over the counter. Home pregnancy tests are very accurate and most can detect whether or not you are pregnant within one day after you miss your period.

To get the correct result from the test, you should follow these suggestions:

· Make sure the expiration date on the box hasn't passed.

· Be sure to follow all the directions on the box. Pay special attention to the amount of time that you must wait to allow the test to provide a correct result.
