As a college student myself I know it is a a huge strain mentally and financially to buy textbooks. The long lines, they are usually out of stock, and most of all--the prices are marked up by a lot. I was surprised today when I went to buy a textbook for my computer class, they just got a new shipment in luckily. There were other students scattered everywhere in search of books, the line was around the whole bookstore as well. I found my book with ease and had brought $50 with me. I looked at the price tag but I guess I checked the wrong one that said $49. When I got to the register the price came to $69, and I thought $49 was bad enough.

My first semester I had simply bought my books online, and it was a lot cheaper. This semester I had little time to buy them online and wait for shipping since I needed them almost immediately, so I thought the bookstore might not be that bad. It truly was, the horror tales were not over exaggerated at all, the price tags numbers were so high I thought it would bend the shelf downward. Anyway, I paid the $50 I had and charged the rest. That was my last $50 for a few days. With enough to pay in tuition I thought this was absurd. I go to a relatively cheap school to get minor classes out of the way for cheap, but I know not everyone does that. That is why I decided to write an article to help everyone save mony on their books.

For a comparison price I checked the site I have used the most in the past to buy not online textbooks, but other books as well. Abebooks.com. My $69 book was up for $14 at Abebooks.com. Another book at the store that I needed last year but got at Abebooks.com instead was a Psychology textbook that went for $40+ at the school bookstore, but it went on Abebooks.com for $1! The shipping was another $4, but still that's a hell of a lot less than $40! And $40 was the used price at the school. The school was raking in such a huge profit it was ridiculous. I was somewhat sickened by the amount they were raising the prices, I wanted a lowered price that at least somewhat honest of the books true value.

I use SmartBookFinder.com, http://www.smartbookfinder.com. They search the on-line bookstores (including AbeBooks) and find the lowest Internet book price. Okay, enough said.
