Snakes may be indirectly very beneficial to human beings, but that does not mean that people want then near them or their homes. It is very difficult to get rid of snakes from around your home and where your children play. So, irrespective of whether you live in a rural area or in the
suburbs, you might be desirous of getting rid of your snake infestation.
Snakes can't distinguish between their natural habitats and personal property lines. So, if you live in a place which was a natural habitat for the snake, they can't help but cross into your property when they hunt of look for a safe place to hide in. This is the important point, Hunting and Hiding. They only come near our homes because of the rodent infestation that we carry or because we leave wood piles, compost heaps etc around, that offer a great hiding place for them. If we are careful in getting rid of the rodents and keeping the place clean and the foliage within limit, the snake problem will disappear on their own.
If you chance to see a snake in your home, then call in the animal control people. They are trained professionals and they can take care of the problem and find out if there is a snake den nearby. Such snake dens, if any, should be removed if they are near human dwelling. You can also use snake repellents to make sure that they don't come back. These chemicals are very effective in keeping out the snakes out of our homes.
Snakes don't bite out of spite; they will do it only to hunt for food and to protect themselves. Venomous snakes are especially dangerous as their bites can lead to serious reactions and even death. The first step is to take care of the victim and then, you need to call in the animal control people and apprise them of the situation. The snake only bit someone because it was stepped on or because it was otherwise harassed. You might want to advice the animal control professionals to release it someplace safe rather than to kill it.
The irony is that snakes are as desirous of avoiding humans as we are of avoiding them. But the sad thing is that we are often forced to remove them from around our homes. Just remember to leave this dangerous work to the professionals.
