Stop the Madness: Why Commercial Radio Personalities Are Ruining the Broadcasting Industry
Radio Personalities are not good role models for children. Many radio personalities use defamatory language during their program. They discuss inappropriate subjects and create and are bad role models for the children and teenagers who are listening to the
radio show. In a country that carries out freedom of speech, radio personalities take this right to another level. The radio stations that the public listens to contain discussions about sexual relations, alternative lifestyles and morally compromising topics.
If these discussions were limited to only special adult channels, there would not be a cause for concern. However, such unsuitable topics are being discussed on popular radio programs where children are among the many listeners. Some children may aspire to be radio personalities when they are older. The kind of behavior that current radio personalities are exhibiting is damaging to a child's perception of professionalism and appropriateness.
Radio Personalities are creating an unpleasant listening experience by talking too much. Broadcasting companies make their money from airing commercials between music. Much like television, the majority of the radio audience has a short attention span. They will more than likely choose to listen to another station. For years, radio stations have made numerous attempts to keep listeners from turning the FM or AM dial during the commercial break.
While there are some listeners who will wait through the commercials, radio personalities have become a nuisance. This is especially evident on many of the popular music stations. People listen to specific stations because they want to hear music. That is difficult to do when a radio personality is talking nonstop. These individuals talk before playing songs and continue as a new song starts to play. Radio personalities have even cut the end of a song off because he or she had something to say.
