The Zodiac Killer

October 30, 1966, Riverside, California, Cheri Jo Bates who was only 18 years old was coming out of class going to her car when she has noticed that the distributor coil was disconnected. While wondering how it had happened a man came up and offered help, instea pulled Cheri behind a shrub were she struggled violently. Cheri was stabbed in the back as well as the chest. Her throat was also slashed so deeply that she was nearly decapitated.

In November of 1966 a letter was sent to the local press stating that Cheri Jo Bates was not the first nor would she be the last. Identical letters were sent to the victims father as well as the police, they read "Bates had to die. There will be more.".

December 20, 1968, 17 year old David Faraday was parked with his 16 year old date Betty Lou Jensen on a rural road east of Vallejo city limits in California when a man with a gun found them and killed both. David Faraday was killed with a single gun shot to the head, Betty Jensen tried to escape managing only 30 feet when the gunman shot her five times in the back with a .22 calibur gun.

July 4, 1969, 19 year old Michael Mageau and his date 22 year old Darlene Ferrin were off for a night on the town. Just around midnight they were parked at Blue Rock Springs Park. Earlier that evening Michael was concerned that the two were being follwed, but Darlene quickly told him not to worry about it. While parked at Blue Rock, the couple noticed a familiar car that pulled up next to them. When they tried to get a look, the driver then pulled out a 9mm piston and shot Michael Mageau 4 times and Darlene 9 times. Michael survived, Darlene died on the way to the hospital.

Not 40 minutes later after Michael and Darlene were attacked, a caller to the police gave directions to where the murders had happened as well as claiming that "I also killed those kids last year".
