I Just Ate a Whole Pie from Marie Calendars... What Should I Do?
We do well for a while, then it happens..."I fell of the bandwagon- Ugh!" At the moment that we decide to allow ourselves to have a treat, we might find ourselves saying, "Oh, I'll just have a little piece," but what happens next? For many of us, it does not stop with a little taste. We end up gobbling up the whole thing like my friend. When that happens, we may end up feeling guilty, depressed, self pity, shame, failure, etc or any combination thereof.
As part of our social condition for many of us, we end up wrapping our thoughts around those negative feelings rather than submitting them to inquiry. Yes, it may be true that we fell of the bandwagon; but, is it true that we have failed? No! You only fail if you allow yourself to believe that you have failed. The only person who stops us from following through on our committments is ourselves.
You see, our thoughts are very powerful. A single thought and/or idea can have an immense impact on one person, let alone a family, country, or even the world. Take Ghandi, for instance. He impacted not only South Africa to start, but later his own Country, and Martin Luther King (in turn affecting the whole Civil Rights Movement in the US), and of course, the entire world.
