Jett Travolta: Did Scientology Kill Him?
Jett Travolta had a history of seizures, and that they were under control until this fatal one.

Jett Travolta and Kawasaki Syndrome

Kelly Preston, Jett's mother, revealed in 2002 that Jett Travolta has a rare disorder called Kawasaki Syndrome. According to KidsHealth.org, Kawasaki Syndrome is a lymph node disorder which causes rashes upon the body and if left untreated, it can cause damage to the heart and vascular system. Kawasaki Syndrome does not cause seizures. If Jett Travolta wasn't seizing because of Kawasaki Syndrome, why was he experiencing seizures? Was Kawasaki Syndrome a cover for Jett Travolta's true disorder: autism?

Jett Travolta and Rumors of Autism

According to a news article on Telegraph.co.uk, there is much speculation about whether Jett Travolta was autistic. The rumors claim Jett Travolta lacked communication skills, which is a classic sign of autism.

Why is this such a big deal? Because the Church of Scientology doesn't recognize autism as a condition, as reported by the Telegraph. Autism doesn't exist, according to Scientology beliefs.

Church of Scientology's Stance on Autism

The Church of Scientology denounces any mental illness, and it rejects the use of prescription medication to treat these illnesses, including autism. According to Wikipedia, autism is commonly associated with epilepsy. There are anti-convulsion drugs that can help with the seizures, but the Church of Scientology doesn't believe autism and the related seizures even exist. Why would they treat it?

This former Scientologist suffered seizures and was prohibited from taking anti-seizure medication. Her insights are really good: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5Ed3nIwxpo&feature=related

The published reports say he was on epilepsy medication. What I don't understand is why, when he went to the bathroom, no one looked for him for ten hours!

Part 2 and religions like Scientology that dissuade parents from seeking-out proper medical treatment? NO religion should reject modern medicine which no doubt probably could have saved this young man's life. It's too bad he was suffering for so long due to the ignorance of these two parents and their beliefs. With all the money that John Travolta has you would have thought he sought out the best medical doctors to put an end to these weekly seizures. When I hear the word Scientology I can't help to think of Tom Cruise spouting out his ignorance on national TV regarding anti-depressants. This religion breeds stupidity. This cult attracts weak minded insecure people.

I have to say, I am surprised there are not more sites questioning Jett's death and the lack of care he may have received. Some say it isn't any of our business. Why isn't it? As compassionate human beings it's in our nature to make sure we protect and help children. It seems as if we haven't been given all the information on this child's death. It was said the boy did not speak which is indicative of Autism, so are the seizures. From what I read in the news he was having seizures once every 4 days and was not taking any medication but had in the past and was taken off of them because they were causing liver damage. If Jett was not getting the proper care due to the Travolta's belief in Scientology and the cult's non-belief in psychiatric drugs or acknowledgement of a scientifically proven neurological disorder, Autism, than I do feel the Travolta's are responsible for failure to provide their son with proper health care. What's to be done about parents like the Travolta's and religion

You know, I was thinking about this possibility after it happened. In any case, a very sad occurrence.

Ron Hubbard indeed. They will end it the same time they end Christianity, Islam, atheism, and all the other belief systems. The Constitution is on their side. Like it or not. Even if the boy was deprived of his medication, and I make no accusations, Scientology did not kill him, his guardians did. Blaming Scientology for this is like blaming the highway when you get hit by a drunk driver. Try to breathe and relax "Ron"

scientology killed the young man. jet was not given proper medical treatment because the parents' cult won't allow it. Mr. and Mrs. Travolta are cult members. Many have died because of the cult, when will the US government end the dangerous evil cult like Germany, France and Spain have?

Good article Heather. Scientology be damned, I just feel bad for this little boy and the family in general. Regardless of responsibility, no mother or father should out live their son.

Im sorry to sound cruel in light of this painful time for the Travoltas. John is a nice guy and he's entertained a lot of us for years, especially those of us old enough to remember "Grease" when i was current. However- i hope that John realizes that Scientology could not, and did not, help Jett. He proably tried to apply techniques to his son. I fear that this may have cost precious time.

Great report. I believe that he was on anti-seizure meds and they just stopped working. =) Regardless of if he has autism or not it is just sad.
