It is almost a given that visiting Japan is expensive. In fact, it is well known that Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world. However, with enough research and preparation, vacationing in Japan can be quite affordable. You can even engage in many of the activities that are considered "must-dos" in Japan and stay in one of the hippest districts in Tokyo on a decent budget.

First things first. Accommodation is often the most costly part of vacationing, and hotels in Tokyo are not an exception, However, considering that you will not be cooped up in your hotel for extended periods of time in a given day (or night) - there is so much to do and see that you will probably only be using your hotel room to shower and sleep - it is not necessary to pay and extraordinary amount of money for a hotel. On my recent trip to Tokyo, I had discovered the ideal hotel to stay in that not only saved me money but made the most of my vacation due to the convenience of its central location to all the nightlife, shopping, and sightseeing spots - The B Roppongi in Roppongi, one of the trendiest districts in Tokyo. Costing what is equivalent to around $150 a night (which is hard to find in Tokyo, let alone in the one of the posh districts), the hotel is literally a 2 minute walk to the subway station, 5 minute walk to Roppongi Hills (the extravagant mall housing many of the top high-end boutiques and designer brands), 15 minute walk to the iconic Tokyo Towers, and is surrounded by countless karaoke places, bars, and restaurants, and 24-hour convenient stores.

Takeaways
  • Japan is not as expensive as most people think.
  • The B Roppongi hotel is in a convenient location, walking distance from many attractions.
  • Research for locations to eat and explore the city to save money on food.
Did You Know?
The B Roppongi hotel comes with complimentary breakfast per person for every night during your stay.
