Richard Sharpe, One of Many Tragic Cases of Prison Suicide
From violence between staff members and inmates, to abuse of inmates by prison officers, the environment of prison can drive some to violence and suicide. Priest and child molester John Geoghan was killed in prison in 2003 while serial killer Jeffrey Dahmer was beaten to death by inmates in 1994. Many more famous prisoners have committed suicide. Nazi Rudolf Hess committed suicide in 1987. British doctor and murderer Harold Shipman committed suicide in prison in 2004. Fred West committed suicide in 1995 while awaiting trial for murder.

Very good reporting. I always find it funny how people respond to having read articles such as this by leaving a smiley face as their mark...Seems like an odd expression. I'm sure they are 'smiling' at your writing, not the situation, but still...Anywho! Again, interesting piece! Thanks.

I think it's horrible.Dr. Sharpe was my friend.I miss him everyday.There's no closure for me.I'll pray for his soul until I can pray no more.He was very kind to me.
