Many of these are garden staples, and some not so much. But if you are even a passive hobby gardener and a pet owner you will need to keep a special eye to make sure that you aren't accidentally poisoning your pets. These are the
 ten most common poisonous plants and a bit of information about each one.

Sago Palm - The Sago palm, while beautiful and one of the most sold palms available, this has man things that are poisonous. The items in this plant to look out for are the nuts and seeds, even though the entire plant is poisonous, this is the most concentrated areas of the poison. This plant will cause vomiting, depression, severe diarrhea, seizures, and even liver failure.

Marijuana - If you manage to get an animal that gets this ingested, whether in recreational use or in plant form, it will cause drooling and coordination issues, vomiting and high heart rate, seizures coma, and diarrhea. Best not put this one out with the begonias.

Lilies - While not the best species anyhow, most any plant in the lily category will be highly poisonous to cats. It has a way of getting in and attacking the kidneys, causing failure and a host of issues. As cats are very curious creatures, and known for their plant snacking, keep this one out of your landscape if you have them as pets.

Kalanchoe - While there are more than 125 different species of this succulent tropical plant there are a few species that come via introduction to the States. It is poisonous to the degree that ingestion will have digestive issues and heart rate problems. This is something that should never be in a garden where there are roaming pets around.

Yew - The Yew is a shrub/tree that can be a beautiful attraction to the landscape, but can have horrifying results if you are a pet lover. The poison in this will affect the nervous system first and will cause a breakdown of breathing with tremors. It will give digestive failure, heart failure, and death can occur from this.
