I've been a fan of Will Ferrell since his first episode of Saturday Night Live, so it shouldn't be a surprise that I love most of his movies. Here are some of my favorites and why I liked Ferrell in them.

A Night at the Roxbury (1998): Ferrell is hilarious as Steve Butabi, a man whose only concern in life is going to nightclubs with his brother, Doug (Chris Kattan). The Butabi brothers will not give up until they are allowed into the Roxbury, the hottest club in town, and their dream finally comes true when their van is rear-ended by their idol, Richard Grieco. I actually don't know anyone else who likes this movie, but I love it and have seen it many times!

Zoolander (2001): Ferrell plays Jacobim Mugatu, a flamboyant fashion designer who secretly brainwashes male models into becoming assassins. With his bleached, almost white hair and outrageous outfits, just looking at Ferrell makes you want to laugh! Also, Ferrell throws quite a few hissy fits in the movie, and he's rarely funnier than when he's yelling at someone!

Old School (2003): Ferrell's Frank the Tank is a man who has never been able to completely leave his college days behind and ruins his new marriage when his wife and her friends, having a girls' night out, discover Frank running down the street, screaming and naked. Luckily, Frank isn't lonely for long...he finds an "okay" blow-up doll to keep him company and even buys her outfits to wear, so he can dress her up like a cheerleader or a nurse.

Starsky and Hutch (2003): Ferrell had a small role in this movie (he was actually uncredited), but I thought he was the funniest part of the movie, so I'm including Starsky and Hutch in my list. Ferrell plays Big Earl, a prisoner who takes a liking to Owen Wilson's Hutch and will only give Starsky and Hutch the information they need if Hutch will show him his belly button and pose for him, looking "mean, like a dragon." When Hutch reluctantly pretends to be a dragon, Big Earl tells him, "You were a very convincing dragon; you should feel good about that."

Takeaways
  • Ferrell co-wrote A NIght at the Roxbury, Anchorman, and Talladega Nights.
  • Ferrell had a minor (but hilarious) role in Starsky and Hutch.
  • Ferrell's role in Stranger Than Fiction is more serious than most of his other roles.
Did You Know?
Will Ferrell was nominated for a Golden Globe for his role in Stranger Than Fiction.

Ferrel has a "serious" role in the film 'Winter Passing" as well, pretty sure that is the title. As for Old School..he truly stole the show in that film..."We're going streaking!"
