Matt Millen is Going to the Super Bowl!? Rant
There is nothing that outrages a Detroit Lions fan more than seeing Matt Millen on TV after the recent 0-16 epic failure of a season. NBC has announced that Matt Millen has done so well
covering the NFL Playoffs so far that he will be going to and covering the Super Bowl. Matt Millen hasn't even taken the Lions to the Playoffs in 8 years and he is rewarded by getting a coveted TV job and a free trip to the Super Bowl! The Lions just can't win....pun intended.
I don't understand how such a hated face in the world of professional football can be a broadcaster on television for the NFL Playoffs for millions to see. Does NBC understand that nobody likes Matt Millen? I along with the other 100 Lions fans will have to turn away from the television during the Super Bowl commentary and turn the sound off. The face of Matt Millen is the last thing I want to see as a Lions fan.
Millen is credited with being a good commentator and does know the game of football....apparently he just can't use that knowledge in any useful manner. Millen has admitted on the last broadcast that he would have fired himself after the 0-16 season (I doubt it) and that he blames himself for the Lions demise. I speculate that the only reason he stated this is to gain support and possibly work in the NFL again some day in the future.
Matt Millen is still owed $12 million for his final two and a half years left on his contract that has not been paid to him as of yet. This may be the worst use of $12 million dollars in the history of the world. Millen did not deserve the job in the first place, or the extension he received, or to keep his job losing year after year.
Matt Millen will finally get his undeserved trip to the Super Bowl, to talk. Millen has only talked over the past 8 years. If only Millen could have backed up his words with a playoff berth, or conference championship.
