Depression

You grab hold and won't let go
No matter how hard I struggle.
You invade every aspect of my being
Demanding I give in to your will.
But I cannot - - dare not listen
For to do so would mean
The death of my very soul.
Surely you are a minion
Of everything that is evil.
Your name is depression.

Oh, do I agree. I'm not prone to depression but wanted to add that I suffered a terrible bout after a recent gallbladder attack, leading me to believe that body and mind can linked and that any assault on the body's normal function can lead to depression. I write this only because I was completely unprepared for the depression and it spooked me, not being used to it. In a few days, everything evened out.

Depression is difficult to find your way out of. Exquisitely written.
