If you live in America you've undoubtedly heard of, or even watched the show American Idol. Any show that allows relatively unknown people compete for the chance at stardom is a winner. American Idol is no exception as it draws in millions upon millions of viewers each week. So, it is up to the celebrity judges to determine whether or not these contestants have talent. Among them are producer Randy Jackson, former singer/songwriter and Laker cheerleader Paula Abdul and the notorious Simon Cowell. Cowell is known for being mean and cold hearted with the off-color remarks that he makes to those that are, well, untalented. But, is Simon Cowell to blame for the contestants being so brutally bad? Let's take a look.

Simon Cowell is an executive for Sony BMG Music, which gives him clout right off the bat. Basically, he knows what he's talking about when it comes to singing and the pop music industry. Simon Cowell has an ear for music and can tell within seconds whether or not a singer has the "it" factor, or not. He's been doing what he does for years now, and the fact that ordinary people with no musical experience think they know more than him is ridiculous. How many times do you see a contestant with their family get rejected and immediately start bashing Simon Cowell saying, "He doesn't know what he's talking about"? It happens almost every time! Come on, people! Sony BMG wouldn't hire some moron off the street and turn him into an executive. Simon Cowell is world renown for what he does, and that is to judge singing talent.
