Advantages of Choosing a Community College
College choice is one of the most important decisions a person ever has to make. With college comes many different questions, do you want to attend college? Do you want to attend a four year college or a community college? Do you want to live at home or on campus? Do you want to live
close to home or far from home? What do you want to major in, and about a million other factors have an impact on which college you should. The first step to choosing a college is deciding what kind of college you want to attend, a four year university or a community college? There are pros and cons to attending a community college, the pros are:
Tuition
Perhaps the biggest advantage to choosing community college is the much smaller tuition than a four year university. A four year university that has a $30,000 (or much higher) semester tuition is much more different from the average $1,500 community college tuition. Those who are hoping to save money, cannot obtain financial aid, or have not been awarded any scholarships, can greatly benefit from going to community college.
Associate's Degree
A community college is only two years long, at the end of which you will receive your Associate's Degree. At a university, a degree takes at least four years, depending on what degree you are seeking. If you are one of those people who do not particularly enjoy school and want to get it over with as soon as possible, community college may be the way to go.
