If your face feels tight after even a gentle washing, you probably have dry skin and will need to deal with it directly on the outside as well as adding a few healthy foods and supplements to your diet to help nourish your largest organ ~ your skin ~ from the inside!
People with really dry skin typically slap lotion on as soon as they exit from the shower because they dread that tight-skin feeling. It's a great idea to blot your skin with a fluffy towel to remove excess water and then apply a moisturizer ASAP to help seal in moisture. Try to avoid taking long hot showers and remember to gently dry brush your skin BEFORE you shower to help remove dead skin cells.
If you have dry skin, you really need to introduce your body to a moisturizing oil such as almond oil. Pour a little bit into your hand and massage it into your thirsty skin. There are many vegetable and herbal oils that can be very soothing. Experiment with oils of apricot, avocado, evening primrose, kukui nut, olive, soybean, safflower, sunflower and wheat germ to find your favorites.
And get your man involved! If your skin is getting dry, start incorporating aromatic oils into your "fun time" and not only will you guys seriously enjoy it but you will also get some skin soothing oil on that one hard to reach spot on your back! Try adding essential oils such as lavender, chamomile and carrot seed to your oil blend for extra nourishment to your nutrient-hungry skin.
Other beneficial things to apply to your skin (with or without a friend) are plant and food products! Look to your kitchen to make masques for your face or your entire body. Use these recipes weekly or as needed.
