You made me believe in myself
When others wanted me to think
That I served no valid purpose.

You peered into my very soul
And treasured everything found there
As if it were a king's ransom.

You protected me from all harm;
Defended me from malice;
My true knight in shining armor.

You guided me into a world
That I had feared for so long
Would never want to accept me.

You took the time to teach me
Not just how I might survive
But also how I could flourish.

You handed me all of your heart
Without strings or reservation;
Giving me the purest of gifts.

You wanted me just as I was
With no intent of changing me;
Accepting me as your partner.

Just to say that your loved saved me
Is a major understatement.
For it did so much more than that.

It taught me how to trust again.
It gave me the strength I needed
To accomplish all that I have.

It helped me see good in others
No matter what else they might show
And how I could reach to help.

Your love has always sustained me
But even more than just that
It let me also sustain you.

I firmly believe we're soul mates;
Two halves of a more perfect whole.
Together, we can't be broken.

Nothing short of a miracle
Could have brought us together.
