St. Patrick's Day Events in Kansas City: Two Events Worth Seeing

Kansas City has a large Irish community that proudly celebrates St. Patrick's Day around the Kansas City Metropolitan area. From traditional Irish music to New Age Celtic tunes, you're likely to see and hear a wide variety of entertainers participating in St. Patrick's Day celebrations.

St. Patrick's Parade downtown, Kansas City
Anyone who has been to Kansas City during St. Patrick's Day knows that the downtown Kansas City Missouri St. Patrick's Day parade is worth the trip. This year's event will take place on Saturday, March 17th, 2007 (St. Patrick's Day) at 11:00 a.m. The route for the parade starts at the corner of Pershing Rd. and Main Street. It proceeds east on Pershing to Grand Blvd. and continues north on Grand Blvd. to Truman Road.

Parade organizers say, "Plan ahead when arriving... With the large amount of construction downtown, plan on arriving early to minimize traffic congestion and leave yourself time to find parking. Please be considerate of the area businesses - without their continued support this Parade would not be possible.

Again this year, the entire Parade route will be lined with barricades. This was extremely successful in the past in keeping the Parade route open for participants and ensuring spectators that arrived early could maintain their view of the Parade throughout the day. The barricades will be in place before spectators begin arriving so please plan accordingly - crossing the Parade route from east to west or vice-versa, either on foot or in your vehicle, will be very difficult."
