Mushrush's: Pubilicious Bar in Peoria, IL

Ever think you'd see a portrait of Santa Clause and John F. Kennedy in the same building? Or perhaps you've enjoyed a New Year at an establishment that gave away a massive flat screen tv? No? Neither did I until

I came to Mushrush's, located at 631 Main Street in downtown Peoria, Illinois , right next to the gay bar, Diesel. This is definitely on my favorite lists for pubs in the Peoria area. It is also the pub I most often visit.

Aside from having the best decorative bar for a pub, the place is a friendly place to go. Mushrush's is like that place where everyone knows your name, but you really can't remember there's, but it's okay, because they're cool like that. Even the owner will swing by and talk it up with you. I've even seen this man dance with ladies on his own bar table.

Special things to mention about the pub include...

Every Friday there's free dinner served to the patrons. Each week varies in the selection of the free meal. Sometime they serve chicken, mash potatoes, sausages, burgers, pizza, and sometimes breakfast food. I must say, I love their mashed potatoes. I'd die for it. I'd kill for it. Thankfully no one has contracted me to assassinate any competitors... yet.

They also got a beer tour going on. Drink each one of their beers and you shall receive a mug with your very own name labeled on it to be used only when you are present at the bar. The pub shelters the mug and keeps it clean for you until your next arrival.

I know the first champion of such a beer tour. He now works for Mushrush's.

Aside from all these wonderful treats, they're regular food is really good too. The burgers pack more beef than anything you've seen at Harde's or Burger King or whatever any other fake burger joint claims to possess. The nachos are pretty amazing too.

Occasionally they'll have open mike for musicians. I've never been a fan of open mike in the past, but on a couple occasions they have had a phenomenal violinist play some incredible tunes. Other than that, they've got your standard Jukebox right next to the ATM.
