The Super Bowl will be over soon and that leads many sports enthusiasts to think about one thing, baseball season. Over the last couple years, the first fantasy game to come out is Yahoo Fantasy Baseball. It is the easiest to use and most established of the fantasy outlets, but here are some tips to make your game more pleasurable.

First, Yahoo offers you three styles of play. There is head-to-head mode. This takes stats each week and wins and losses are based on how you do against your opponent. Over the final few weeks of the season in head-to-head, there is a playoff of the best teams. The nice thing in the playoffs is that there is also a consolation bracket, so even if you are having a bad season you have a chance to get to the middle of the pack in the playoffs. Points and rotisserie modes take stats over the whole season to determine a winner. The downside of these modes is that once your team gets down, it's very hard to make a comeback unless you are very smart about the game. The difference between the two is that in points mode, points are awarded based on the stats chosen rather than just using the stats themselves.

There are three ways to sign up. The first is to play in public leagues. These are leagues put together by Yahoo in order by signups. The upside is that you will get a draft relatively quickly, but the downside is that many people in public leagues quit if they don't like their team after the draft and it will be clear by the end of April who is still playing. The second way is to join private leagues. Private leagues require a password, given by the person running the league. The great thing about private leagues are that they are put together by people rather than by Yahoo Sports. The odds of getting everyone to play goes up tremendously. The third option is to create your own league. You get to determine which stats get used, which style of play and who gets into your league.

I love yahoo fantasy baseball, i have stuck with it for 6 years. I enjoy a custom league with managers i know and trust. This way i avoid a league where people fall out or give up due to not winning. Good work!
