20 Unique Uses for Dryer Sheets

Dryer sheets were a creative, but limited invention upon their conception. But they have come a long way. Dryer sheets are useful for much more than making clothing soft. They can be used for the home, outdoors, cleaning, and more.

First of all, I want to mention a way to make dryer sheets last longer for their traditional use. Cut the dryer sheets in half before using. They will still work for an average size laundry load to eliminate static, make clothes soft, and make clothes smell nice. Or use a dryer sheet two, three, even four times before throwing it away. It is still effective.

Cleaning
Because dryer sheets contain softening ingredients, they work great on food that is stuck to pans or baking dishes. Just put a dryer sheet in the pan, slow cooker, or dish. Fill it with hot water. Cover with a lid, if available. Let sit overnight. The food will be much easier to remove the next day.

Just as dryer sheets remove food stuck to pots, they can help remove baked on food that is on your stove top. Place a new dryer sheet over the food. Spray hot water over it. Spray every hour or so, keeping the sheet wet. Let sit overnight, if possible. Use the same dryer sheet to scrub off the food. This sounds like a lot of work. However, after I spent literal hours trying to scrub off the leftovers from my husband's cooking adventures, this technique worked like a charm. It took time, but not a lot of effort.

Rub dryer sheets on metal or plastic blinds to help repel dust.

Dryer sheets are great for removing soap scum and grime from bathtubs. New ones work best, but used ones also are effective.

Use dryer sheets for dusting. They help repel dust, leave a great smell, and the texture of the sheets are really effective at picking up dust and dirt and not letting it be redistributed throughout the air like feather dusters do.

For some reason, they work well to shine mirrors and appliances.

Totally worn out ones also work great to clean windows and save on paper towels.
