Reviewing Discovery's Strength and Toning Resistance Tubes
Value
As far as Resistance Tubes go, this is a mid-priced set. For $20.00 you will get a pack of three resistance tubes (from easy tension to more challenging), a door strap, and two handles. Although there isn't an instructional DVD, you will find a pamphlet that explains a few exercises to try. I'd recommend getting yourself a book or DVD that will give you more options, as this pamphlet is obviously very limited in its information (it's only one sheet!). Don't start out with a high priced set, when this one will do nicely for most people.
Comfort
Unlike most handles, these handles are cushioned sufficiently so you won't get blisters or other unsightly hand irritations. Using these two to three times a week won't be a problem, but you need to wear sneakers during your workout; sneakers will help stabilize the band when working your biceps and shoulders, and is the best footwear to adorn your feet with while stepping on the tubes for various exercises. And no matter what age you are, you can use these bands easily and effectively.
Tension for beginners
There are three tensions--light, medium, and high. The high tension, however, will do for people who have been using hand weights regularly and are trying resistance bands for the first time. Once you get used to a certain tension, you can up the tension to the next band. You will likely grow out of this set in a year or two, but it is great for beginners to start with. If you have experience with resistance tubes, than you might want to buy another set that has a higher tension. However, this set from Discovery will do for most people that are starting a regular strength training program.
