There are so many things around your home that can be turned into other things, besides trash. These are things that you would normally throw out, but that was before you read this article. This article will explain five ways that kids can recycle old coffee cans. Just make sure you recycle the coffee cans that have the foil lids rather than the metal ones, this will help kids avoid getting cut.

5 Ways for Kids to Recycle Old Coffee Cans #1: Treasure Chest

This is something I did when I was a kid. For this project, kids will need magazine clippings and tape. All kids have to do is find several pictures they like in magazines and clip them out. After they have clipped out all of their favorites, they can arrange them on the old coffee can until they find the perfect arrangement. After they are satisfied with the arrangement, they can tape the clippings onto the coffee can. These treasure chests are great for letters from friends and all those little treasures kids find throughout their day. This is also a great way to recycle all those old magazines.

5 Ways for Kids to Recycle Old Coffee Cans #2: Banks

A variation on the above treasure chest is a bank. After all, it's never too early to teach kids the importance of saving money. They can either decorate their bank as they did their treasure chest or you can find some fabric that has pigs on it and simply glue the fabric onto the old coffee can. Kids will need your help when it comes to cutting a slot into the old coffee can lid.

5 Ways for Kids to Recycle Old Coffee Cans #3: Crayon "Box"

Kids have crayons all over their room because the cardboard boxes that they come in never seem to last. A great solution for this is to take an old coffee can, decorate it, and then put all the loose crayons inside. Kids could even colors the paper that they decorated their coffee can with.

That's great Amanda! These are so much fun and really allow kids to be really creative. I had another article that was ways for adults to recycle old coffee cans, but they declined it saying it was too similar to this one. Oh well.

I let my niece read this article. She's already called grandmothers and aunts and asked them to save their coffee cans for her. Thanks for a lot of ideas! Great article!
