Support Our Troops: An Action or Just a Saying?

With our troops deployed overseas into hostile situations, many people are sporting around the ribbons on their vehicles stating "Support Our Troops". But what does that really mean? Does it mean that we should just verbally say that we believe in our troops when some one asks what our
take is on all this? Or does it mean becoming involved with the troops themselves? I for one do not want to sit idle and just announce I support our troops. I want to really help support the troops that are over there putting their lives on the line for our freedom.

One of the ways that I have done this was to adopt a soldier and become a soldier's angel. That's right! I am a soldier's angel. How did I do this? I went to the Soldiers Angels website and signed up to adopt a soldier. If approved they will give you all the contact information on your adopted soldier.

There are some requirements for Soldiers Angels. You must be willing to send at least one card or letter a week to your adopted soldier. Also be willing to send one to two care packages a month to your adopted soldier. These do not have to be expenses care packages just a little something to brighten your soldier's life.

If this is too much and you would rather just write occasionally to soldiers and send the occasional care packages you can do this also through AnySoldier.com. The Department of Defense has stated that mail addressed to any soldier is not permitted you must have a name and address to write to a soldier. AnySoldier.com has found a way around this that is perfectly acceptable. You can receive that contact information for a contact person who has signed up to be a contact.

With that you just write the letter to Dear Soldier and put it in an envelope addressed to the contact along with the contact name on the envelope. With a line in the address stating Attention: Any Soldier and then the contact will give this to a soldier that he knows who does not receive much if any mail. This is a way to really brighten the day for a soldier. You can also send care packages this way also to an anonymous soldier who could really use it.
