Unpredictable NFL Wild Card Weekend Results in Interesting AFC, NFC Conference Games

Trends for Sports Lovers

Four of the most unlikely pro football teams advanced to their conference finals. Let's look at the best choices for this week's games and why.

First, my condolences to all those great fans of the former AFC favorite, the Tennessee Titans, and the former NFC favorite, the New York Giants; both teams were seeded No. 1in their respective conferences only

to fall short of the mark this last weekend by road warriors.

Well, now we have us a real football quagmire going this weekend, which should make Vegas a ton of money and cause heartbreaks to all those great football fans who play company football raffles, company football cards, and online betting. But don't fret -- because this week could turn out to be more of a boom than a bust for the football savvy fan.

NFC Conference Finals

The Philadelphia Eagles take on the Arizona Cardinals in Arizona. This one, according to the January 12 Boston Herald, has the sixth seeded Philadelphia Eagles a road favorite against the Arizona Cardinals to actually upset them at home, and even has them as a very large five point favorite as well. However, you savvy football fans must remember that the Arizona Cardinals are high flying when it comes to the all important passing game headed by quarterback Kurt Warner. The Cardinals also beat a very good Carolina team on the road to the NFC finals and will now be coming home sky-high, most importantly the Cardinals have a pretty decent running game as well. However, the Philadelphia Eagles had also just beaten a very good team on the road, but that win came by the New York Giants making a lot of uncharacteristic mistakes, and the Eagles need another huge road win in Arizona in order to advance to the Super Bowl in Tampa. For the above reasons my money goes to the Arizona Cardinals as a lofty home underdog coming back from a huge victory on the road without the benefit of bye and playing to a friendly, yet very hungry home crowd which should buck the road warrior trend that we have seen in this year's playoff games.

The "analysis" done on this years upcoming AFC-NFC Championships games as written by Glenn Lacedra was by far the WORST most useless and less informative single article I have ever read!! Notice I put the word "analysis" in quotation marks, the reason for doing so stems from the fact that in NO WAY, shape, or form can what this supposed author be construed as analytical in any sense of the word. Where is the match up data? Where is there any mention of situational handicapping... ...for example, the Ravens are playing on the road AGAIN for the third straight week and have not had the benefit of having had a bye week since September... ...meaning that the Raven's contest against Pitsburgh will be Baltimore's 18th straight game without rest, why no mention of this fact? There is no mention that Philadelphia is in the same situation when they travel to Arizona as the Eagles are on the road AGAIN for a 3rd straight week and will be playing on the road AGAIN for the 5th time
