Once you have made the decision to move to a senior citizen community, you will have a big job to do. Now you have to decide which senior citizen community is best for you and Pittsburgh has some excellent choices. And they are all different, which is good because you have more of a chance to find exactly what you are looking for. Take you time and visit as many as you need too. Get on the waiting lists for the ones you like. You can pick and choose when it is your turn. Sherwood Oaks is a gated community for senior citizens 62 and over. There are numerous floor plans to choose from ranging from a studio to a three bedroom and they all have private patios. As for activities you can Germinate vegetable seeds in the greenhouse, Take an art class, Enjoy a game of bridge, pool ,croquet, bocce, horseshoes, badminton work in the workshop, Visit the Styling Center, Practice your golf putt, Take a long walk through the woods Workout in the Fitness Center with a personal trainer. They also have scheduled activities covering everything from poker to symphony concerts.

Asbury Heights has several different senior citizen living options. They also have a hot line for senior citizens to get information they need about various services in Pittsburgh.
For independent living senior citizens, they offer a choice of townhouses , one- or two-bedroom apartments, suites or residential rooms. All housekeeping is included. Assisted Living/Personal Care at Asbury Heights provides residents with assistance as needed. If your needs change, the level of care changes. They have a separate residence, Asbury Place for Alzheimer's patients.
