Ahhh to be 6 again! Gawd, what is that? 43 years ago! Eep! And yet... I remember The Outer Limits when others fade from memory. I remember crawling under my magic monster-proof blanket at night after being allowed to stay up late to watch this when it first aired. I remember vividly what I then perceived as bad guys. I also remember being afraid after one episode where the Alien being crashed thru the screen... I knew one was gonna crash thru my TV anytime, so I made my little brother sit on the floor between me and the TV whenever we watched it.

So many memories. You can imagine my shear delight when I opened my presents one Christmas to find The Outer Limits: Season 1. This series first aired in 1963 and the nation was quickly hooked. This is the series that inspired much better known masterpieces such as Twilight Zone. Although I watched that religiously also, nothing ever compared to TheOuter Limits in my own mind.

The DVDs are set up with 4 episodes on each side, in chronological order, with 8 episodes total per disc. A tad annoying as I like to load the trays and just go on a watching spree... this makes me get up to flip the disk. A minor inconvenience in this case though seeing as how after watching 4 episodes it's time to go refill whatever I'm drinking and stretch anyway. There are 32 total episodes in this set. (Yup, this is gonna be a loooong one)

Disc 1
The Galaxy Being - Air Date 9/16/63. This is the premier, the one that hooked me and everyone else. Cliff Robertson owns a radio station and stumbles upon a radio wave that sucks an Alien into our world.

The Hundred Days of the Dragon - Air Date 9/23/63. A serum is developed that allows rapid feature change, with the idea of replacing the current President.

The Architects of Fear - Air Date 9/30/63 Robert Culp (of I Spy fame) plays a scientist who transforms into an Alien with the hope of creating a common fear to prevent war.

The Man With The Power - Air Date 10/07/63. Donald Pleasance plays Harold Finley, a man who develops a thingy that can manipulate the electromagnetic spectrum, which develops a mind of it's own...

My favorite. Bought both sets as soon as they became available. Love the Harlan Ellison episodes, Robert Culp's scarecrow episode, several others. It would've been nice for some extras, interviews, making of doc, that sort of thing. Ph well. Night Stalker didn't have it either.

Gee, I remember the name and that I loved it as a kid but I recall nothing of the content of this series.
