Today, we're going to take a look back at what has come to pass in the world of heavy music. There were a few great metal albums that came out in 2006, and now that the holidays are over, I've had plenty of time to sit down and listen. After thorough examination, I've decided on a definite top 3 metal albums of the past year that you can't pass up. We're going to start with number 3 and work our way down.

#3 - Killswitch Engage - "As Daylight Dies" (Roadrunner Records) - Wow, this band has done quite nicely since they changed vocalists, opting with Howard Jones. The album starts heavy, then throws you a few nice change ups, then continues on it's brutal path. While I'm somewhat partial to this band (they're from western Massachusetts, so am I), there's no denying their validity. There is something for everyone, from the brutality to the ballad, "As Daylight Dies" comes through big time.

Notable Tracks: "My Curse", "Eye of the Storm", "Break the Silence"

#2 - Walls of Jericho - "With Devils Amongst Us All" (Trustkill Records) - Ridiculous. That's one word that I can use to describe Walls of Jericho's latest creation. I saw this band for the first time during Ozzfest of this past year in Hartford, CT. They drew the short straw of opening, but any true fan of music was there at that time. For only having an audience of about 50 people, the band was electric, and it shows through on their album. Starting with their first track, "A Trigger Full of Promises", and continuing all the way to the end, With Devils Amongst Us All will not disappoint.

Notable Tracks: "A Trigger Full of Promises", "I Know Hollywood and You Ain't It", "Try.Fail.Repeat.", "Welcome Home", "With Devils Amongst Us All"
