Deal or No Deal and Howie Do it Star Hospitalized

According to TMZ and CNN, Howie Mandel was taken to a hospital Monday evening, in Toronto for severe chest pains.

Reports indicate that Howie Mandel was troubled by his heart earlier during the day. Howie's publicist has indicated that the comedian and game show host did not have a heart attack. He is being treated for an irregular heartbeat and is expected to be released later today.

Mandel was in Toronto, Canada filming clips for the new NBC show Howie Do It. When police reached Howie Mandel he was in the elevator at the Sheraton Hotel on Queen Street in Toronto. He was taken immediately to St. Michael's Hospital where he is being treated for the irregular heartbeat.

Fans of Howie Mandel are relieved that he did not suffer a heart attack. His charismatic personality and ability to build tension on Deal or No Deal when acting as a liaison between "the banker" and the contestants have endeared him to audiences.

NBC hopes his charisma and comedy will carry his new show, Howie Do It, to the phenomenal ratings that

Deal or No Deal has brought to NBC.

According to an email to CNN Lewis Kay, Mandel's publicist advised the news source that once released, Howie was expected to return to work on the prank show Howie Do It later today. She stated that Howie stayed in the hospital overnight for observation.

Howie Mandel is 53, other than this incident with an irregular heartbeat he is believed to be in good health.

There was no further statement from Howie Mandel's publicist.

After a lull in his career Howie Mandel's popularity and success has sky rocketed as a result of NBC's hit television game show, Deal or No Deal.

Howie Do It premiered last Friday night on NBC.

NBC desperately needs the ratings that Howie Mandel has brought to their network via Deal or No Deal. Executives are hoping for the same success with Howie Do It.
