The Pritikin Diet and Other Dieting Information

There are so many diets and fads out there that I'm sure you have heard of the Pritikin Diet, a low fat diet based on veggies, grains and fruits. The idea is to fill up on foods that are not "calorie dense" such as

 apples, oatmeal, brown rice, oats, dark green lettuces, potatoes, squash, beans, bananas, strawberries even white flour pasta is acceptable as long as you have it combined with veggies to bring down the density of the whole meal. By incorporating these foods into your life and exercising (walking 30 miles a week is recommended), you will see results.

I am the typical yo-yo dieter, when I see the new fad I am totally game to try it. I have tried everything just to name a few; the grapefruit diet, Atkins diet, 7-Day Detox, Hollywood Juice Diet and Special K Challenge. I have spent numerous dollars on the hottest diet pills including; Relacore, Metabolife, TrimSpa, Hoodia and Leptropril. When I was 21 it was so easy to stay thin, I had my Metabolife and took that way more then I really should have. As for eating I'd tell myself it was over-rated, load up on pickles because it's basically a free food. So I was thin, but very unhealthy. Now that I'm older it is more difficult to lose weight, I still get caught up on the next big diet and give it a shot, but if you don't have anyone there to support you it makes it really hard to stick to it. I have exercise equipment here in my home and will get into a routine but that doesn't seem to last either. I think about the 30 minutes to an hour I spend exercising and what else I could do with that time, mow the lawn, clean, wash the car etc.

As I said above I tried the 7 - Day detox which failed completely (read my previous article on the 7-Day detox.) The Special K Challenge I find easier to work with, I enjoy cereal, and the Special K Red Berries is actually yummy. You get to have a bowl of cereal for breakfast (or a meal bar or special k waffles); they offer a variety of cereals, meal bars, snack bars and waffles that you can eat so that you don't get burnt out on just one thing. Also you are able to eat a normal dinner which is nice as opposed to other diets.
