Learning to swim is a skill that just might save your life someday. It’s also a very enjoyable, healthy activity. Swimming works almost every body muscle, and is easier on the knees and joints than running. Since swimming is so accessible in the Seattle area, there are logically several places where you can learn. Here are a few good choices:Seattle Parks & Recreation Fitness & Swimming Classes
Not only are the courses well taught by certified professionals, they are also fairly inexpensive, at about $5/class or less. Buying a season’s worth of classes will cut that price. There are also reduced rates available for low income families (about $2.50/class.) Swimming is taught in classes typically divided by age groups, so kids, adults, and seniors will find themselves grouped accordingly. Instructors know basic life support skills like first aid and CPR. Classes are located at different pools throughout the Seattle area, so check with the Parks and recreation website map to see what’s nearest to you, and to register yourself or your child for an upcoming class.
