When selecting a historical site to visit it has to be something the whole family will enjoy. If I was capable of driving myself all the way to somewhere like West Branch, Iowa in order to see the Herbert Hoover Library for example it would be a joy for me personally. However, when you are somewhat limited in your options because you know that the people you will be taking your trip with will definitely not be interested in a tour of a Presidential Library especially one that is not very handicapped accessible and thus I would have to be lugged up and down the stairs in order to see much of the exhibit that option is off the table.

So my mother, brother, and I all being music fans we decided to go to Graceland, Elvis's estate in Memphis, Tennessee. Also as much as I would like to see Presidential libraries frequented as much as possible along with the fact that it's always good to see more of my home state Iowa if you are going to go on a trek it's good to go where the weather might be a little warmer every once in a while.

This trip was taken back in July of 2004. If time was endless and my energy were anything close to a durable state taking a trip to go see a historical site during the school year so my report would be on a more recent excursion would be nice, however I lack the fortitude to journey far distances while classes are in session. The site itself is significant because people from all over the world loved Elvis and came to Graceland to mourn his death back in 1977. People took notice of the news that would come out that mansion when it was announced that Elvis was going on tour. The guy sold millions of records all over the world, frankly though I am drawing a blank on any specific statistics to regurgitate that they told us during the tour.

Did You Know?
Elvis Presley hated most of the scripts for the movies he was cast in.

I can remember my Dad telling me that before Elvis got famous he and Dad got in a fight and Dad lost. This is good work!

You have an enjoyable, conversational way of writing that I enjoyed very much! I would like to see Graceland also, but sorry to hear that it smells like a funeral home! :)

I live in Memphis, but I have never gone to Graceland. I love to hear about it from people who go though!
