This easy to make baby clothes window valance is perfect for a nursery, small child's bedroom, or even a chil'ds bathroom.

If you have tons of leftover baby clothes you little one has out grown, then try making this simple window valance using baby clothes.

My favorite feature about this window treatment made from Baby's clothes is that you can easily interchange your Baby's clothes simply by reaching up there and grabbing them down!

To Make a Baby's Clothes Valance You Will Need:

Baby's Clothes (Lots of them)

One 2X10, cut to fit your window

Screw in hooks (one for each piece of baby clothes)

Baby clothe's hangers

Primer

Paint

Paint Brush Sand Paper

L Brackets Power Drill

Screws

Wood filler

Now, the first step is to measure how wide your individual window is. I like to make this valance stick out about 5 to 6 inches on either side, but that is up to you.

You will also need two pieces of this same board cut to about 4 to 5 inches wide. These will be the sides of your valance.

Now, Screw in through the front ends of your long board and attach your two side pieces of the valance. I like to predrill these holes and then put in my screws so that the boards do not split.

Now, sand your entire wood valance lightly.

Paint on a coat of primer, like Kilz.

Let the primer dry, then paint on a coat of your paint. I like to paint this valance because you will be able to see it behind your Baby's Clothes. This is a good time to introduce an accent color into your room. You could also paint this board the same color as your walls if you have any leftover wall paint.

Now, let that paint dry.

Measure across your board with your tape measure. Make a small dot about every 5 inches. This should be about 1 inch from the top of the valance.

You could get away with a dot every 4 or 6 inches as well. You need to be consistent because you want your Baby's Clothes to be spaced evenly. If you are worried about how many Baby's Clothes will fit onto the valance, then start making the dots in the middle of the valance and work your way out left and right until you reach each end.

Takeaways
  • Now, use your L brackets to hang the Baby's Clothes valance on the wall.
  • Try to screw into a wood stud if at all possible.
  • Now, you can load up the valance with Baby's Clothes.
Did You Know?
I like to put one L bracket on the left end of the valance and one on the right end of the valance They should be placed on the inside of the side wood pieces.
