Seven Great Ideas for Theme Parties
Spice it Up Next Time You Throw One
Eighties
This one is common, but it's always fun and never overdone. Make sure to use a playlist consisting only of eighties music. Tell your guests to do the big hair and leggings. Clashing also fits well.
**Note: This can work with any era. For a fifties theme, you would wear poodle skirts and play Chubby Checker, etc.
Country
If you live in the country, this could be just like any other party you throw or attend. Country music only, so brush up on your George Strait. Maybe you could do some line dances, too. Wear cowboy hats and boots, plaid shirts and faded jeans. All the ingredients for a good time.
Pimps and Hoes
A popular theme, it is possible to overdo the pimps and hoes theme. But for beginners, it's a good introduction. You can get fake money and fan it out in a pocket, stick it in a bra, etc. Fishnet stockings are perfect for this occasion, as are bright suits and dark red lipstick.
Old-School Nickelodeon
We all watched old television shows on Nickelodeon. Remember Guts, Legends of the Hidden Temple, and Doug? This is the perfect opportunity to bring back the old. Tell your guests to dress as a contestant or character from their favorite Nickelodeon show. You can use dry ice to make a punch bowl look like the Krag.
Pirate
"Arr matey!" I think we all know how pirates dress. Get an eye patch, rip your clothes, and don't worry about your hair. You'll cover it up with a bandana anyway. Make sure to stock up on the run, it's popular with the shipmates.
Beach
Only swimsuits allowed! Bring a beach towel, too, if you're insecure or easily chilled. Wear your flip-flops. Serve only exotic drinks like frozen margaritas or piña coladas. Play the Beach Boys. You might even want to bring sunglasses.
