A browser may be good today, but is it compatible with Web 2.0 web sites? Tired of seeing the message "We do not support the Safari browser yet...Instead, please use ** for the Mac" ?

Mac users need to find alternative browsers in order to use certain web sites. Since these browsers are all free and do not take up a lot of room, you may want to download a couple of them to see which ones are the most compatible with the web sites you frequent.

Top Free Browsers for Mac OS X: 1. Camino

Camino is a wonderfully simplistic and fast browser. It also seems like its flying pretty far below the radar.

This open-source browser supports XML, XHTML, DOM, CSS, and SVG. Using plug-ins like Flash, Java, QuickTime, and Shockwave run faster.

The Camino browser does not suffer the same crashes that Firefox seems to encounter.

With some applications, like Google Docs Camino does not always open documents in a new tab, but in a new window, even when preferences are set to new tab. Camino does not always listen.

Other great features of this Mac-friendly browser include "Annoyance Control," a pop up and advertisement blocker and tabbed browsing.

Top Free Browsers for Mac OS X: 2. Firefox

Firefox tends to the browser of choice for many Mac users. The benefits of using Firefox are that it is a secure browser and allows a lot of room for customization.

Firefox can be customized with themes and some useful add-ons. There are so many Firefox add-ons that they have their own site (https://addons.mozilla.org/).

Another advantage to Firefox is that the user can add different search engines to the search field.

Top Free Browsers for Mac OS X: 3. Flock

Flock is social networking browser for mac users. Flock is a useful way to keep up with friends and family with blogging and photos. Flock also has standard browsing features like search and add-ons.

Top Free Browsers for Mac OS X: 4. Safari
