I think most people would agree that dishwashers are a God-send! I remember growing up washing a sink-full of dishes in hot soapy water. I'm so glad that the days of hand-washing dishes are gone.

As I bask in the technology of this age, I notice that many dishwasher detergents come up lacking.
What is the point of having a dishwasher if I basically have to hand wash my dishes before I load them in the dishwasher?

I've tried many products on the market trying to optimize my dishwasher's performance. But, in the sea of products available which one is the best? In my opinion Cascade 2-in-1 ActionPacs is the best dishwasher detergent on the market.

I've have tried numerous different powdered dishwasher detergents over the past ten years. I have even gone as far as trying a generic detergent. Sadly, even the most well-known brands came up short. They often left a residue on my dishes and clumped up detergent in the dishwasher dispenser.

So, I decided that I would try some liquid cleaners. There are many to choose from. Among the liquid dishwasher detergents, the best one I found was Palmolive. But, even using Palmolive required that I vigorously pre-wash my dishes before loading them.

Then, one day I saw Cascade 2-in-1 ActionPacs in the store. These ActionPacs immediately appealed to me because they contained Dawn dishwashing detergent. I grew up using Dawn and nothing cuts grease better!

Cascade 2-in-1 ActionPacs are little pacs of powdered detergent on one side and Dawn dishwashing detergent on the other side. I was hesitant about the powdered side. I was worried that I would face the caked up mess in the dishwasher dispenser. This was not the case. Since the detergent is contained in the ActionPacs, there is not mess.

Cascade 2-in-1 ActionPacs also boast on the package that there is no need to pre-wash. I was very leery of this claim. I had seen it before and every time it was untrue. But, I decided to give it a try. I lightly rinsed the dishes and loaded them. To my surprise they all came out clean! This was the detergent I had been looking for!

I've been using these for a few weeks. I saw them at Costco. The work great. I've never had a cloudy or etched glass. Being single I wash small loads of dishes a lot and a few big loads of dishes. I have a Bosch Dishwasher.

Last Saturday, 6/23/07, I washed two dishwasher loads of canning jars in Cascade 2/1 action pacs, which I had just purchased. I canned 50 quarts of vegetables and put them in the cabinet. Last night, I opened the cabinet and found that my jars of vegetables looked cloudy. When I picked them up to check them, soap bubbles formed in each and every jar! After searching the internet, I've discovered it is not uncommon for this particular Cascade product to leave a soapy residue. BEWARE! Mourning the Loss of 50 quarts of veggies!
