Truth is stranger than fiction! Al "The Internet Inventor" Gore and Rush "The Rehab King" Limbaugh have both been nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize!

That's right the NOBEL PEACE PRIZE!! It don't get no more ironic than this! It just goes to show that more people have a sense of humor than you may have thought. Al Gore was nominated for bringing world attention to the plight of global warming. Rush Limbaugh was nominated for his tireless efforts to promote liberty, equality and opportunity for all mankind.

Talk about bi-polar nominations! I laughed when I heard both announcements. The first thing morning I heard it again on Fox News. I still thought this was a joke but it's Groundhog Day not the first of April. I checked www.thinkprogress.org and there it was! It thought that my day couldn't get any better and boom, Al and Rush in the run for the gold!

My mind is running through all the possible permeations of the grand event. Imagine a tie. Al Gore and Rush Limbaugh having to share the stage for the presentation both in stovepipe hats and 1900's tuxes and tails. A Swedish dignitary approaches the podium in a black and white stripped tux and tosses a coin. Both Rush and Al call tails since neither speak Swedish worth a darn and a brawl ensues.

Al grabs Rush in a liberal headlock and Rush counters with a conservative roll into a sleeper hold. Al taps out and brings the strong right cross, and then tries to body slam Rush. Unfortunately, both Al and Rush are packing a few extra pounds. They both go to neutral corners of the podium to catch their breath.

James Earl Carter, a former Nobel Peace Prize winner in attendance, rushes Rush at the podium and sucker punches him in the back. Al, feeling a second wind, grabs a folding chair and attempts bash Rush's brains in. Rush rolls to the side at the last moment and Al strikes the Swedish dignitary in the head knocking him unconscious. Rush seizes the opportunity and grabs Al's tux tails and wraps them around Al's neck in formal chock hold.

Despite all his bragadoccio he was NOT nominated for the Nobel Peace Prize. Nominations are only accepted from persons or organizations SPECIFICALLY INVITED by the Nobel comittee to nominate potential candidates. One cannot nominate oneself tho I have no doubt that 'El Rushbo' would if that were permissable. A private citizen may not (unless invited by the Nobel committee) nominate. That is they can write a letter to the committee which will be ignored. One can call that a nomination tho that would not be true. As in this case. Since he did not 'win' I note that his response (along with other right wingnuts on the radio) was to trash the prize, Gore and prior winners in his typical fashion. Then he whines that he has the 'nomination' and they 'can't take that away' from him. But we all know that they, indeed, cannot take it away because he never had it.

Ahhh...the Limbaugh nomination was done through Limbaugh's friend and conservative talk show host Mark Levin, and was done in the spirit of Limbaugh's segment of "illustrating absurdity by being absurd". In other words, if someone like former PLO leader Yasser Arafat could get the Peace Prize, and Jimmy Carter could get the Peace Prize for doing things that, while noble, have absolutely nothing to do for peace, and finally if Al Gore can get nominated for the Peace Prize for his environmental stand which does nothing for peace, then Limbaugh can get nominated for the Peace Prize for his desire to see capitalism expanded in the world. He has a point. But the bottom line, is that it is a SPOOF.

I thought this was funny, regardless of race, sex, national origin, or political affiliation.

I love lIberals! Hey! Mortimer, read the requirements for submission for the Nobel prize. You think there might be one conservative professor in the nominating group? You guys are just way too inteligent for me. If Hitler could get nominated, you doubt Rush?

Mortimer Snerd is an awesome name, and you make a wonderful point.

OK..just so everyone understands...the Gore nomination was made by those who can actually do the nominating...the Limbaugh nom comes from some neo-con dunderheads in an article...

I can understand Gore's nomination, but Limbaugh? He seems like one who likes to stir the pot. Well, seems as though almost anyone can be nominated, after all, Hitler and Stalin are past nominees.
