Navy Pier is lakefront playground that attracts visitors from around the world There are more than 50 acres of parks, promenades, gardens, shops, restaurants and attractions. There is always something happening at Navy Pier. Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows, Amazing Chicago Funhouse Maze, Chicago Shakespeare Theatre, IMAX Theater and other entertainments are open. The ferris wheel and rides are closed for the winter, but there is still plenty to do. IMAX Theater is one of Navy Pier's biggest attractions. The 440 seat theatre features Chicago's largest flat movie screen The movie screen soars six stories, measuring 60 x 80 feet. The large screen enhances 2D and 3D films.
Chicago Shakespeare Theatre
The year round theater complex creates a permanent home for Shakespeare in the heart of Chicago. The theatre has an intimate feel so the audience feels close to the actors on the stage. Upstairs at Chicago Shakespeare are rehearsal spaces, an English style put, a Shakespeare resource center for education and lobby and reception are with views of Lake Michigan and Chicago's skyline. The Three Musketeers: A New Musical will be playing until February 18. Short Shakespeare! The Taming of the Shrew will be playing until March 3.
Smith Museum of Stained Glass Windows
This is a permanent display of 150 stained glass window housed in an 800 foot long series of galleries along the lower level terraces of Festival Hall. The stained glass windows on display were designed by prominent local, national and European studios. Most of the windows were originally installed in Chicago area residential, commercial and religious buildings. The stained glass windows are divided by artistic theme into four categories including: Victorian, Prairie, Modern and Contemporary. During the month of February the Smith Museum features a tribute to Black History Month.
