So seriously, what's with all the mom blogs today? It seems every where I turn it's another "mom blog". We have soccer moms and corporate moms, geeky moms and hipster moms, wannabe-writer moms and even bi and lesbian moms. Oh but don't forget the rock star moms and best friend moms and yes, even the hot and sexy "I can't believe she's had a baby" moms. Studies show that there are more mom blogs than any other type. So what's with this growing trend of mothers who blog? Was there some "Mom Memo" that scattered the globe inviting all mothers to join the technological age and begin blogging? Did I miss a Mandatory Mom Meeting or something? Are there any moms who aren't blogging? (There must be at least one because I'm not sure my mother even knows what a blog is.) Maybe there are also some mothers in technologically-challenged countries who don't blog. It seems every mom with a computer, also has a blog. Seriously, there are a lot of mom bloggers.
So what are all these mom blogs about anyway? Well, it varies as much as the moms themselves. Some moms talk about their jobs and their businesses and how they balance the corporate world while still being a mother. Some talk about their families and dinners they make and share their favorite recipes. Some moms chit-chat about skinned knees and how to make the "Owies" better and share gossip on the latest daytime romance. Some read like diary entries, some read like a news story and others can only be classified as the traditional rant.
Why do these mothers have so much to say? Why are so many moms today posting to blogs? Is anyone actually reading all these mom blogs?
Is it because these moms are lonely, bored, need friends or have husbands that don't care to talk to them? Does anyone even care to read these mom blogs or are they just online diaries for little girls that never really grew up? Is it a way for frustrated housewives to rant and rave about their lives and maybe get a little sympathy from other lonely, bored housewives that feel the same way?
I've done some research into this mysterious phenomena and I think I have discovered the reason behind it.
