Leave me on my bed of withering roses.

Leave me entangled in the black sheets

that bring cold comfort as I struggle to sleep.

Leave when the soft moonlight exposes

me crying to blow off steam

twisted in tortured thoughts and tattered dreams.

Leave me before even fleeting regret.

Leave before the sun's rays show

tear stains that darken my raven pillow.

Leave me wanting empty compliments

So I can wallow in uncertainty.

I abandon my conscience to set my soul free.

Leave me in pursuit of self-made solutions.

Though wrapped in worries and doubt,

I rummage within to figure life out.

Leave me to rigorous contemplation.

Allow me to struggle on my own.

My mind is a prison where I am eternally alone.
