Smokers in Florida, whether residents or visitors, should take heed in observing any "No Smoking" signs they come across. These signs are placed strategically in locations where the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act states that they should be placed so that all smokers are aware of the situation. If the smoker then chooses to light up in that area, they are in violation of the Florida Clean Indoor Air Act and will then face a penalty for their actions.

Smokers should have some idea of where they are allowed to smoke. Smoking is prohibited "in, on or within 1000' of the real property comprising a public or private school." This does not apply to smokers who happen to be traveling past the school in a moving vehicle or are inside a private residence within the 1000' area of the school. Schools are not the only areas where smoking is prohibited. Enclosed work areas are also places where smoking is prohibited. These enclosed work areas include, but are not limited to, private and public work areas, retail stores, restaurants, bowling alleys, private country clubs, beauty and barber salons, libraries, auditoriums, theaters, health care facilities, nursing homes, common areas of hotel/motel establishments, etc.
