This antique map wall art project is the perfect way to cover a large amount of space when you need some art! Don't worry if you do not have an antique map, you can always work around that!

Anyone who lives in a loft knows what it is like to need cheap and affordable art that looks good. This Antique Map art project is a great way to cover large blank walls for very little money. Anyone can easily make this Antique Map arts and craft project, you don't need to be an artist. If you can hold a ruler and a pencil, than you can make this wall art!

The Antique Map of this art project lends itself well to a vintage or traditional setting. If you choose a map in bold colors you could even use it in a contemporary home décor.

Depending on the number of canvases that you purchase you should be able to make this entire Antique Map project for around $100 to $125. In the need you will be covering about 100 square feet of wall space. Don't worry though; you can easily make this wall art project on a mush smaller scale!

To Make a Antique Map Wall Art Project You Will Need:

9 Canvases (Already Stretched on Wood)

Antique Maps

Decoupage

Painter's Tape

Paint Rollers (One small and one large)

Foam Paint Brush

Picture Hanging Hooks

Wood gel stain

Now, you can go online and print out antique maps form free online sources. You can also use books of antique maps and have them photocopied at Kino's. Be sure to have them blown up large to size. Finally, you can use store-bought school maps that come in large sizes.

Now, take your maps or photocopies of antique maps. You want to cut them down to the same size as your canvas, but about three inches bigger on each side.

Now, simply rip the edges to create uneven rough edges. To do this us your paint brush and dip it in water. Paint along the edge of the paper and then rip off the wet edge.

You could also cut your maps out with pinking sheers or bend them over the edge of a table and rip along the edges that way.

Finally, you could always tear you antique map photocopies into large pieces.

Now you are ready to start applying the antique maps to your canvases.
