Easter Craft - Easter Egg Quickie Foam Purse

Everyone needs an Easter Egg Purse to hold their extra candy this Easter! This project makes a quick and easy Easter Egg purse from craft foam.

Supplies:
========
Pastel craft foam (this wil be the base color of your purse)
Craft needle
Yarn or ribbon
Scissors
Optional :Craft pens

Optional: Other colors of craft foam
Optional: Glue
Optional: Glitter

Step 1 ~
Cut two Easter Egg shapes from your pastel craft foam. They should be identical. Use a template to make sure they're the same, or make one and then trace around it to make the second one match it. Lay your two foam egg pieces together, one directly on top of the other.

Step 2 ~
Using the craft needle, loaded with the yarn or ribbon, sew a running stitch about a quarter-inch away from the edge of the Easter Egg pieces. Start about a third of the way down from the top of the eggs. Work your way down, around the bottom, and then back up until you're about a third of the way down from the top on the opposite side. This leaves the top part open, so that you can put things in it.

Step 3 ~
Cut a length of your yarn or ribbon, and attach it to each side of the Easter Egg purse, at the point where you stopped stitching. This is your handle strap.

Step 4 ~
Now you can use the craft pens to decorate the purse. You can put your name on it, or draw something, or write a holiday message. Remember that you can decorate both sides. Be creative!

You can cut out smaller Easter Eggs, or other shapes, from your other colors of foam, and glue them to your purse to embellish it. A miniature Easter basket, crosses, and Easter Bunnies, are all nice traditional Easter images, and that could be easily cut from bits of foam.

You could also decorate your Easter Egg purse with glitter. Spread a thin layer of glue wherever you want the glitter to stick. Then pour glitter over it, and tap the excess glitter off. (This will be easier to clean up if you do it with your purse sitting inside a casserole dish.)

If you draw, you can use craft pens directly on the Easter Egg purse. Use your imagination, and have fun with it.

Happy Easter!
